Back in 2010, I did this post on the foldable electric bike concept, which now a group at SXSW announced as a new and emerging concept.
Would somebody go ahead and bring this to market?
An article and radio interview with Frank Jamerson, Electric Bicycle Company and author and publisher of Electric Bikes Worldwide Report, states the electric bikes are 'taking the world by storm.' Maybe the world, but not the US. It seems that with the baby boomer population, electric bikes would be the preferred bike for boosting oneself over hilly terrain or to do the last leg of the ride home. [St. Petersburg and Gainesville, FL were noted by the League of American Bicyclists as bicycle friendly cities in the US.]
Here's an amateur video showing people test driving the bike in Oregon from Conscious Commuter:
And, in Tallahassee we still need somewhere safe to ride bikes, electric or otherwise. yes?
