Joy over at Hope for Clean Water says it may be a perfect time to revisit the path-breaking essay from 1965 by Kenneth Boulding, The Economics of the Coming Spaceship Earth.
Describing the the Earth as a space ship, on which we are all passengers: "In the imagination of those who are sensitive to the realities of our era,
the earth has become a space ship, and this, perhaps, is the most
important single fact of our day," he wrote. We passengers are just
now beginning to understand the profound implications of Boulding's
1965 insights.
