Spottings of Smart forTwo cars in Tallahassee - two.
Sightings of the older model hybrid Hondas in Tallahassee - three.
Number of cars in Tallahassee that resemble those bugs we called 'rolly pollies' that curl up when you touch them (pill bugs) - zero.
This photo is of a car called the Antro Solo, from Hungary. The prototype is a three seat gas-electric hybrid made entirely out of carbon fiber, so light in weight, it achieves top fuel efficiency of 150 mpg and a top speed of 87 mph.
But wait! There's more. This car has solar panels on the roof that store energy in the car's batteries which provide power for short trips.
But wait! There's even more! If it's not a sunny day, each passenger's seat has pedals that can power the vehicles generator, which brings to mind all those jokes about hamsters powering a VW Bug. So, if everyone gets tired of pedalling, the vehicle can be switched over to its small combustion engine than runs on gasoline or ethanol. The car is projected to go into production in 2012, at a cost of around $20,000. See additional pictures at Inhabitat.
