The independent movie, Blue Vinyl was on Sundance the other night. It was also on HBO and can be seen through the Blue Vinyl website. The irony is that Judith Helfand used the settlement money she received from being a "DES baby" to finance the film. Yet, it's good to be reminded about the power of one person. The companion web site my house is your house has some interesting green building links, including habitat for humanity which has been a large consumer of vinyl siding in the past, due to its affordability and low maintenance.
Lou Armesto, Executive Director of the Big Bend Habitat for Humanity, has been working on some solar installations and tankless water heaters for the newest and largest Habitat development off Lonblaugh Road.
Don't forget about Florida's commitment to the million solar roof project that said by 2010, a million public and private solar roofs would reduce carbon emissions throughout the United States. Could we include the new Leon County Library to be build off Buck Lake Road? I read a blog comment that said Tallahassee was the number one city in Florida with the most photovoltaic installations. Until I have a source for that, I can't assure it's true.
