"A society built on green design, sustainable energy and closed loop systems, a civilization afloat on a cloud of efficient, non-toxic, recyclable technology." ~~Alex Nikolai Steffan

Energy Star

Before the age of enlightenment, I greedily lived in the northern Tallahassee 'burbs, consuming mass quantities of gas to go to and from several times a day, not to mention the time I wasted in the car. I also had an ancient chest freezer humming away in the garage, storing mysterious contents that ended up as unidentifiable masses of iced something . It was an exercise in waste at many levels.

According to the Energy Start refrigerator retirement savings calculator, I was consuming almost $200 a year in electricity, in addition to the gas for the trips to and from Publix and the money to purchase the food to freeze, store, then throw away. Probably not the recycling model we want.
