Florida was the first in the Nation to get a plug-in hybrid school bus! Manatee County Schools in Bradenton is participating in the plug-in Hybrid Electric School Bus Project and received two of 19 hybrid buses given nationwide by Advanced Energy, a non-profit corporation. Each bus has a hybrid drivetrain manufactured by Enova Systems. The buses should emit 90 less diesel engine emissions and get 70 to 100 percent better fuel economy.
